Cut & Clear
You can only create cuts in the Edit Window. Adding a cut creates a new Segment. There are two ways to manually add cuts to the timeline. You can double click on the centre frame of the Dynamic Frame Display or use the Cut/Clear button:

When the Playhead is over an existing cut, the Cut/Clear Button will turn red, & the playhead will display a black circle at it's centre. Clicking on the button will remove the cut:

If either of the Segments on either side of the cut have annotations, then the 'Merge Segments' warning dialogue will appear, providing a number of options as to how to merge the metadata. This dialogue will only show when a single cut is removed:

Please note that you cannot create or clear cuts when the video is playing.

Merge Cut
To delete multiple cuts, use the 'merge' command. Select the segments boundaries that you wish to remove by click-dragging in the Edit Window timeline, then choose 'Edit / Merge' from the Menu or the keyboard shortcut 'ctrl + cmd + H'. If any of the selected segments have metadata, then the following warning dialogue will appear:

Move Cut
Looking for File Move tool ?
Move Cut is available in Edit Mode as a way of fine-tuning a segment boundary (position) without having to delete a cut and create a new one. Move Cut is particularly useful for fine tuning segment boundaries of notated segments, as its use is non-destructive to notation data.
To move a cut, place the playhead over the segment boundary you wish to move, and then type 'Shift + cmd + C' on the keyboard, or choose 'Timeline / Move Cut' from the Menu. The following image will appear at the top of the video display area.
