Application Menu


File Mode

The File Window is the first window you will see when launching the application. The File Window is also referred to as 'Home', as all the applications functionalities are accessed from here.

1: Application Mode Switch

This button enables switching between the File window & the advanced Clip Filter

2: File Mode Controls

This control enables the currently selected video file to be opened in three different modes:

Edit Mode enables video files to be 'chopped' into segments (clips)
Notate Mode enables segments to be tagged with both 'Content' & 'Word' Annotations.
Present Mode provides a full screen playback experience with navigation.

3: File Filter

The File Filter enables video files to be found according to their metadata. Please refer to the Filter page for more details.

4: File list View

The file list shows a list of video files that match either the selection in the chooser pane (see item 6) or the items that match the File Filter. You can sort the items in the list by choosing from the drop down menu at the top of the display:



Clicking on the 'ladder' icon will reverse the sort criteria.

You may also change the file list View to a smaller view by clicking on the double circle icon at the bottom of the file list display.

5: File Annotation Button

This button brings up the File Annotation Window. This window enables a number of different File Annotations to be applied to the file. The primary way of annotating files is by using the Collection & Keyword tags at the bottom right of the window (see item 12). These annotation fields are replicated in the File Annotation Window. Please refer to the File Annotation page for more details.

6: Chooser Pane

This part of the interface should be very familiar as it is essentially a video specific version of the Chooser found in both the Finder & the iTunes application. Please refer to the Chooser page for more information.

7: Video Display

Shows the video of the selected file.

8: Timecode Display

Click on the arrow to the right of the timecode display to show or hide the timecode readout. If you load a file that has a Timecode Track, it will automatically be displayed here, with a 'TC' prefix.

9: File Image button

Click on this button to change the File Image (displayed in the File Image display). Please refer to the File Image page for more details.

10: File Actions button

Click on this button to bring up a list of actions that can be performed on the currently selected file. See File Actions for more details.

11: File Data Display

This readout shows video, audio & timecode track information about the currently loaded video file. You can switch this display off using the File Data display toggle button (see 15).

12: Collection & Keyword

These fields enable you to annotate files quickly from the file window so that they can be easily found again. You can also access these fields from within the File Annotation Window. Please refer to the File Annotation page for more details.

13: Video Capture Button

Click this button to launch the video capture utility. If the light to the right of the button is red, it means that no capture source is available. Please refer to the Capture page for more information.

14: File list Display Toggle

Click this button to toggle between a large & small list view.

15: File Data Display Toggle

Click this button to hide the file data display, click again to hide the keyword & collection annotation so as to only display the video playback. You can also extend the size of the video display area by dragging the toggle at the bottom right of the window.
