File Filter: Filter for video files from the File Window.

Single File Clip Filter: Find specific clips from the currently opened file, available in both Edit & Notate Windows.
Filter & Follow: Find specific clips or follow annotations in Present Mode.

File Filter
You can search for
specific video files in the File Window. The File Window is the default window in the application. To find a video file, type in the search field at the top right of the File Window.
The default filter criteria is 'All'; in other words the filter is performed against all available information about the files. You can specify a more selective File Filter by clicking on the Filter Icon:

Searching in Specific Places
To the right of the Filter Field is a checkbox called 'Selection'. When a folder is selected, the filter will automatically search in the selected folder. To search everywhere, untick the 'Selection' checkbox.
To cancel the filter, click on the X button to the right of the Filter Field.

Single File Clip Filter
You can filter for particular clips from within both Edit & Notate modes. To activate the filter, choose 'File / Filter' from the menu, or via the keyboard shortcut cmd + F, you will then see the Filter Window:

The filter works by Marking the clips (segments) or groups that match your query. Multiple filter criteria perform an ‘also’ operation. For example, Who=Shaun, will show all Shaun’s segments. If I then add another who filter, Who=Ed, the result will show all the segments that have Shaun in that also contain Ed.
When the filter has been performed by clicking on the Search button, you will need to apply the filter results to the timeline by clicking the 'Mark' button. This will have the effect of Marking all the clips that match the filter criteria. Once the timeline has marked clips, you can click on the 'only' button to only show these marked clips.
Sets of Marks
You can build up sets of segments that match multiple queries by unchecking the ‘Clear existing marked segments’ tickbox. In this way you could filter for Who=Shaun, then filter for Who= Ed, and the timeline would then show both Shaun and Ed segments.
Note: You can choose to either filter for groups or for segments, but only if both have been notated. Use the Filter Option radio button to select.

Filter & Follow
Present mode has two built in filters: you can filter for particular segments as with the Single File Clip Filter, or you can follow particular 'strings' of clips with the 'Follow' functionality.
Please refer to Present Mode for more details.
