Installing & Device Support

When Frameline is first installed, the application will open and show the file window. You will then need to select which drives you would like to index for video files (See below) Indexing uses the system's Spotlight database to create a list of video files for the selected locations, & then processes each file. This processing involves checking for Frameline metadata in the file, & importing the data into an SQL database if any is found. The processing also creates a file image to represent the file - this image is used to represent the file in the File Window.

Supported Devices

All native OS X drives are supported. However, MS-DOS and NTFS formatted file systems are disabled on local drives, due to Windows OS installations interfering with the frameline processing engine.

Device Processing/Indexing

Frameline Version 3.2 adds fully customisable indexing. To bring up the device indexing settings window, click on the cog icon to the right of the device name in the chooser pane of the file window;

index cog

This will then bring up the device indexing settings window, which will enable you to choose exactly which folders you wish to be indexed;

You can choose to ignore the device (in which case you will not be able to view any files that are on the device) or you can choose to index the entire device EXCEPT certain folders, or ONLY index particular folders.

The startup drive settings window has a preset list of items.

To re-index a drive, click on the cog icon at the top right of the window.

Device On/Off Switch

Frameline Version 3.2 adds a Device On/Off switch. This switch only has the effect of hidding files from that device from the file display. This function is useful if you are searching for files, as you can switch a device off to see where particular files are located.

index cog

To switch a device off, simply click on the device switch. The image above shows the 'Media Drive' device switched off.

Updates

Frameline uses the Sparkle update framework. When the application is launched it will automatically check for updates. If an update is available a window will appear giving update information, & the option of installing now or at a later date.

If you do not wish to update the application for some reason, click on the 'skip this version' button.

It is recommended that the application is kept up to date.

Uninstalling

Frameline 47 places a number of separate components into your system. If you wish to uninstall the application please use the Frameline 47 Uninstaller Application. This application can be found in the ‘Library / Application Support / Frameline 47’ Folder.

If you have purchased a new machine and wish to transfer your software you need to deactivate the software on your current machine before you can install the software on the new machine.

If you do not deactivate the license, you will not be able to install it again.
