Save & Save As

When you save a file in Frameline the data you have created is saved directly into the video file itself as well as being saved into the Frameline database. The database holds segment information that is queried & retrieved in the Clip Filter.

When you save a file, it is automatically indexed into the system's spotlight database. Frameline accesses the spotlight database at launch in order to process which files have changed, & any changed files are then processed into the Frameline database.

Saving data into actual video files themselves enables very easy interchange between systems. For example if you send a notated video file to another Frameline user, the file will automatically be processed into their Frameline database as soon as the application is launched on their system.

When the Frameline application is in the background (ie you are using Final Cut Pro or another application) & you switch back to Frameline, the application will query the spotlight database to see if any files have changed, and refresh accordingly. For example, if you have deleted files in the finder, when you switch back to Frameline, the display will refresh to update those changes.

Please Note: Spotlight can sometimes take up to 10 seconds to register the changes to files, so you may not see any changes reflected instantly. If the application fails to refresh in this way, bring the finder to the foreground for a few seconds before switching back to Frameline, whereupon the changes should update. If for any reason the changes do not update, restarting the application will force this refresh.

Save As

The Save As command enables the creation of a Frameline Metadata file or a duplicate Version of the file. Save As is available from the File, Edit or Notate windows.
